teeny and not-so-teeny grace and celebrations

whoooopeeeee! it was a sunny day, no work, all play...went out to check the mail, and here was a package from far across the sea. straight from the magnificent and wondrous to-know-her-is-to-love-her TEENY in new zealand.

it came springing forth fresh florally flouncy goodness, all the things i like so much: short stories, lace, calico, ribbons. that miss teeny, she's an observant one :) best of all...homemade goodies straight from her oh-so-clever hands.

she made, YES handcrafted, this comfy little playdress of crisp periwinkle calico cotton that was once thrifted crib sheets. teeny is a recycler and repurposer extraordinaire. she inspires me to try harder with sewing, if at least for the very practical purpose of giving new life to cute thrifted fabrics.

i could live in this little ditty.

can you tell it's june now or what?!
with fresh new gifts, lovely friends, and sunshine...i was literally jumping for joy.

other cause for celebrations: a visit from this guy.
DID YOU EVER?!!!

oliver is such a charmer. every time i see him i gasp with pure love, delight, and enchantment. at four months old now, the boy is pure magic and so strikingly observant of the world around him, taking it all in through those bewitching eyes.

his daddy came over to help us plan our newest backyard project...you ready for this?
(drum roll.......) we're building a stage! well a little theater set up for plays and shows. i really hope the next time i show you it's come a lot further, but hey. i was stoked to see this very first corner go up!

on this stage, i will be directing the next episode of Epic Dust, a brave undertaking for this gal who has zero hands-on experience with performance arts. darin and i co-wrote the script and we are excited to bring it to fruition. filming begins in july with all our friends and loved ones acting; wish me luck! i've got a lot to live up to after the acclaim of the first four episodes....we had our second premiere night last night and it was a smashing success, but i'll save that for another post.

:) sweet summer celebrations to you all.
and thanks again so very much to my lovely friend teeny ...can't wait to show you more of the treasures she sent me, the lady is a gift-giving kiwi whiz kid!

Um, my goodness, I'm so very flattered reading this, you sweet gal. My eyes are smiling so much I'm sure they're teary!!!! It was such a joy stitching those things together, and I was so excited sending them off to you....like a gleeful secret. You look adorable in the dress! You know, it seems like a very H&D worthy endeavour to have a stage built in your backyard. Plays and shows at home? Sigh. Perfection. Thank you so much for the wondrous compliments my friend.

Oliver is such a cutie pie!!!!!! I can't wait to see that stage!! Crazy coolness. Just the other day on a walk I saw what looked like a stage being built. I asked them what they were doing and they said they were making a music video. Totally made me think you guys xo Love the dress. Homemade goodness

Yay for friendly packages! I have to admit I've been wanting to send you gifts ever since I got my first dress from you but I am a world class procrastinator (and I'm still trying to find a scarf with little bonhommes on it for ya heh).

Yay for a stage! That's so cool!

That dress is absolutely adorable and you wear it so well. :) Oliver is beautiful, too sweet for words.

I would love to have a stage in my yard. Mine is far too small though. I will just have to watch your progress and live vicariously through you.

Ryan and I will have to come see a show when the stage is all finished! A good excuse to invite myself over ;)
