Rebecca and Zack had their Valentine's party last night and all the cuties got decked out and ate tons of homemade goodies. We even got to see our San Francisco friends this time! Like the lovely CarolAnn who is moving soon to a farm. (oh by the way Darin shaved his beard into this crazy moustache. Just to spice up V-day a little even though I gave him hell for it!) We got to hang out with Ryann's sweet friend Carla from Argentina. And brush up on the old Spanish. These two went stag . (Is that word for real?) Saturday night brought another fine show of musical acts. First up, my dear friend Doniella who writes the most quirky lovely folk songs about loneliness, San Francisco, mermaids, the Grapes of Wrath, and home. A poet soul, this one. She sang her Steinbeck song straight to me, from one lit lover to another. I'm so jealous she actually has a teaching job and thus a forum to share this love! Here she is in this shawl her sister just brought her from Spain (I fell in love with it) and with Nihar, in their handsome matching glasses. More couples in cute matching glasses: Joey and Em. And then Darin played! This time their band was in another incarnation known as Loomfixer in which they play Darin's songs rather than my brother Joey's. Both are incredibly rad. This show sort of blew me away. I mean I knew my hub is magical and all, but the strange and mystical lyrics to his songs transported me. You should hear him triumphantly sing this on...

The Pangbroehrns had their annual holiday bash Sunday night and it turned into a massive gathering of friends old and new in Sacramento. Here are Doniella and I with the drink we made up, champagne and guava juice, aka the Guavosa! It's amazing. Eric and Ashley technically should have won the ugly sweater contest, but we forgot to vote. Joey scored the gift I brought to the white elephant exchange: vintage Empire Strikes Back glasses. Whoopeee! Cutest gingerbread houses on earth: a Jetsons Hobbit Hole, a Japanese Pagoda, and the old Hangtown Bar! The whole damn joyful lot of us. The week between Christmas and New Year's always seems to be the busiest week of the year!

monday night july 27 we had another little backyard bonanza that included cervezas, corn, all sorts of veg dogs and burgs, lovely sunshiney fruit, a game of dress-up in my room with the ladies, and some romps into the pool. here is some ROIDIC evidence of the night. we even had SYLVAN! he and stormy love each other and i tried to capture them touching noses. but missed. jocelyn and doniella in two dresses from my closet. we all raided my closet and threw on different frocks. ended up with a sort of purply/navy blue theme. next day, river day. darin accompanied us gals, oh my dear lady friends, to our most beloved river spot out in swansboro. after a nice dusty steep hike down, we were SO READY to be refreshed. and refreshed we were. in spirit, mind and body. sounds cheesy but i'm sort of not kidding. it had been an emotional night and morning with some argumentative tones running rampant. not with doniella and carolann of course, but between me and my hub and even me and addie. l...
