"I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin..."

I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what I assume you shall assume, For every atom belong to me as good belongs to you. I loafe and invite my soul, I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass. My tongue, every atom of my blood, form'd from this soil, this air, Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same, I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin, Hoping to cease not till death. It struck me, when I read Song of Myself several years ago, that thirty-seven years old , that magical Whitmanesque age, was still in the future for me. How exciting that felt! To know that this wonderful age that was such a pure and boisterous beginning for the bard, was something I could look forward to. To know that I could set forth on new adventures, and sing the praises of the earth, and be wild and merry and voluptuous and bold. Now and forever. and especially at 37. And so suddenly I am here! In the CATHOUSE

an announcement: emily and i have joined forces in a brand new vintage shop on Etsy!  we are now Cat House Vintage and our little trove is bursting over with treasures. both being large with child, we have a model named jenna who is a doll, and hopefully we'll get some cassie in here real soon too.  we have done two cemetery photo shoots so far in a bustling attempt to post some fall and wintry items, as well as some just plain old crazy fun stuff. our lovely jenna is a natural redhead. she also happens to be an incredible photographer and creative fashionista; check out her beautiful blog .  some pretties: some cozies: setting up amongst the gold miners' headstones. our assistants:    and of course i couldn't do it without one fine nana! woooo hooooo!!! we are so excited for our little joint endeavor, and we sure hope you'll like all our new stuff. check it

All Hallow's Festivities

i thought i might just let it pass without posting anymore halloweeny stuff, but i couldn't do it. it was too sweet a day, it's too fleeting a month, and making new traditions with this spunky enthralled girl is just too much fun. posting it here is like singing it out: it was fun! some days are hard, but this day was perfect :) first off, and most importantly, darin had the whole day off. it's kinda rare to have a whole family day together nowadays, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. from a late big breakfast to some " Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown " in jammies in the morning. later we went on a drive (tootie napped) to buy the sweetest best mandarin oranges from fausel ranch and then i showed darin five strings farm that i mentioned last time. he immediately fell in love with this huge old oak. we bought a whole bag of those incredible winesap apples and a lovely fat bundle of kale.  later we walked downtown with our little monkey
